2.3 Usage Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data such as app crashes, screen views, and general usage patterns. This data does not include personal health information or identifiable personal details. Analytics help us improve app stability and performance.

2.4 Device Information

We collect a persistent device identifier (UUID) to associate your user profile data with your device. This identifier is stored locally and used to sync your profile data with our cloud storage service.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the GlucoLens service
  • To enable you to track and analyze your glucose readings
  • To generate statistics, charts, and insights about your health data
  • To improve app functionality, stability, and user experience
  • To sync your user profile across devices (if you use multiple devices)
  • To provide customer support and respond to your inquiries

4. Data Storage

4.1 Local Storage

Your glucose readings are stored locally on your device using SwiftData, Apple's on-device database technology. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it. Your app settings and preferences are also stored locally.

4.2 Cloud Storage

Your user profile information (name, date of birth, gender, height, weight, diabetes type, diagnosis date, medications, and notes) is optionally synced to Firebase Firestore, Google's cloud database service. This allows you to access your profile information if you use the app on multiple devices. Your glucose readings are NOT stored in the cloud.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may collect information:

Firebase (Google)

Firebase (Google): We use Firebase Analytics for app usage analytics and Firebase Firestore for cloud storage of user profiles. Firebase's privacy practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Firebase may collect device identifiers, IP addresses, and usage data. For more information, visit: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances: (1) With your explicit consent, (2) To comply with legal obligations, (3) To protect our rights and safety, (4) With service providers (like Firebase) who assist in operating our app, subject to confidentiality agreements.

7. Your Rights

  • Access: You can view all your data within the app
  • Export: You can export your glucose readings as CSV or PDF files
  • Delete: You can delete individual readings or your entire profile
  • Correction: You can edit and update your profile information at any time
  • Opt-out: You can stop using the app and delete it, which will remove local data (cloud data may persist until manually deleted)

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information:

  • Local data is encrypted using iOS system encryption
  • Cloud data is transmitted over secure HTTPS connections
  • Firebase uses industry-standard security measures
  • Access to the app can be secured with Face ID or Touch ID (biometric data is processed entirely on-device by iOS)
  • We regularly review and update our security practices

9. Children's Privacy

GlucoLens is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
